Oxford is a vibrant, multi-cultural city full of history and heritage. It is home to the oldest English speaking university in the world, renowned museums, charming shops and cafes, beautiful gardens and meadows, and much more, I hope you enjoy my collection of images, the albums are only partially complete so please return.
     

 

Bridge of Sighs  

Built in 1913 The Bridge of Sighs joins the two sections of Hertford College located on either side of New College Lane.

 

Christ Church College

Christ Church is Oxford's largest college and is home to England's smallest cathedral.

Merton College

Founded by Walter de Merton in 1264, Merton is one of the three oldest colleges in Oxford.

 

Ratcliffe Square

Radcliffe Square lies at the very heart of the old University. The Radcliffe Camera was funded from the estate of the Royal Surgeon Dr John Radcliffe.

Sheldonian Theatre  

The Broad Street entrance to the Sheldonian Theatre is notable because of the carved heads, or terms, that tower above the railings.

 
 

 

All Souls
The college was founded to pray for "the souls of all faithfully departed" in memory of the dead of the Hundred Years War.

Balliol Collage
One of the oldest colleges, Balliol was founded by John de Balliol.

 

 

The Bodleian Library
Founded by Thomas Bodley in 1598. Today the collection comprises 6.5 million documents.

 

 

Hertford College
Hertford began as an academic hall in 1282. Since then, it has been dissolved and refounded on a number of times.

 

 

Mansfield & Keble Colleges
Keble College was founded with public money in memory of John Keble.

 

 

Natural History Museum
Houses the University's scientific collections.

 

 

New College
It is one of the largest and best-known colleges, and undeniably one of the most beautiful.

 

 

Oriel Collage
It was at the centre of the Oxford Movement in the 19th C, today it's more famous for rowing.

 

 

Queens Collage
The statue over the main gate on the High  St is of Queen Caroline, who funded the building.

 

  St Johns College
The college was founded during the reign of catholic Queen Mary on the site of St Bernard's Monastery.
 

 

Trinity College
Trinity is one of Oxford's smaller colleges. The founder, Sir Thomas Pope, served as a treasurer to Henry VIII

 

 

University Collage
University is the oldest of Oxford's colleges with it's Shelley Memorial, it's closed to visitors.

 

  Wadham College
The college was founded on an endowment from Nicholas Wadham and his wife Dorothy.
 

 

Worchester College
In 1714, due to a large donation baronet from Worcester named Thomas Cookes.
