St Albans Cathedral is an
imposing former Norman Abbey Church set in the centre of the City of St
Albans overlooking Verulamium Park. The present church was built from
recycled Roman brick between 1077 - 1115 on the execution site of Alban
(c.250), Britain's first martyr. A site of Christian worship for over 17
centuries, the cathedral remains an active parish church and focus for
ecumenical worship.
